Suspects sought in string of armed robberies

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Grand Rapids police are searching for the suspects in a string of armed robberies, most of which occurred at convenience stores and party stores.

The robberies occurred between April 13 and June 22, police said in a news release. In each instance, either one or two suspects entered the store, pulled out a handgun and took money and Newport-brand cigarettes.

Police said that in some of the robberies, customers were also robbed.

The robberies occurred at the following locations:

  • Our Food Mart at 423 Webster St. NW
  • Knapp Street Party Store at 701 Knapp St. NE
  • Miti Mini at 1210 Giddings Ave. SE
  • Sam’s Party Store at 1034 Bridge St. NW
  • Supermercado at 957 Davis St. NW
  • Speedway Gas Station at 1533 Leonard St. NE
  • Oliver’s Market at 1548 Kalamazoo Ave. SE
  • Guddis Corner at 1220 College Ave. NE
  • Ron’s Quick Stop at 1115 Bridge St. NW
  • Little Caesars Pizza at 1245 Leonard St. NW

The first suspect is described as a black man who is 5 feet 8 inches and has a thin build, police said. The second suspect, also with a thin build, is described as being 5 feet 10 inches. During the robberies, they wore hooded sweatshirts and bandanas or ski masks that covered part of their faces.

Police also said in the release that in one of the robberies, one of the suspects wore a navy blue sweatshirt that had white sleeves and had the word “Nuggets” on the back.
