Armed robbery at CVS; suspect on run

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are looking for the suspect who robbed a CVS pharmacy at gunpoint.

The armed robbery happened around 4 a.m. Friday at the CVS pharmacy on 28th Street near Eastern.

Three clerks were inside the store at the time of the robbery. Police say a man came in the store, grabbed a beer and then told the employees he was robbing the store.

Dispatchers tell 24 Hour News 8 the suspect was armed with a handgun when he went into the CVS pharmacy.

He was able to get away with an unknown amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a light skinned black man, about 5 feet 6 inches with a scar on the right side of his face. He was also wearing a black hoodie and black jeans.

This robbery is most likely not related to other recent robberies in the Grand Rapids area, as this suspect was not wearing a mask and also had a distinct scar officers believe would have been noted in the other robberies.

Anyone with information is asked to call Grand Rapids Police at 616.456.3403.
