WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) – A candlelight vigil was held at Grand Rapids Plastics Saturday for the father of six who was killed in an industrial accident.

Russel Scharenbroch Jr. was cleaning an injection molding machine at Grand Rapids Plastics in Wyoming when he got caught inside and killed Friday, according to co-workers.

Scharenbroch is 34-year-old and a father of six. Friends say he was a great man, wonderful husband and father.

There were around 100 people at vigil. Some friends started up their motorcycles, revved the engines and then everyone lifted their candles into the air.

“He was just amazing. There are really not words for Russ. He was the perfect husband, he was the perfect dad,” said Elizabeth Diep, Scharenbroch’s sister-in-law.

There will be a benefit at Kuzzins Lounge at 741 Leonard Street in Grand Rapids on July 19 at 1 p.m. to help raise money for his wife Angel and children.
