KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) – Police noticed a 16-year-old boy walking down the street holding a shirt over a bullet wound to his shoulder Sunday.
Kalamazoo Public Safety officers were called to the intersection of Race Street and Hays Park in the Edison neighborhood on a report of gunfire around 3 p.m. Sunday, according to a KPS news release.
The officers were looking for possible victims, suspects, evidence and witnesses in the area when they noticed the teen walking down the street with a bullet wound to his shoulder, the release said.
The 16-year-old Kalamazoo resident explained to police he had no idea who shot him. The victim has known gang affiliation and has been involved with local law enforcement over 20 times, according to the release.
The victim was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.
