Woman in critical after crash near Saranac

BERLIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman remains in critical condition after she rolled her car and hit a tree just outside of Saranac Wednesday evening.

The crash happened at 7:40 p.m. at the intersection of W. David Highway and Jackson Road in Berlin Township.

The driver, a 48-year-old women from Lake Odessa, had to be extracted from the 2006 Chevy Monte Carlo she was driving.

She was airlifted to a Grand Rapids hospital where she remains in critical condition.

It appears the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to Ionia County Sheriff’s Department.

The cause of the single car crash remains under investigation.

The road was shut down for a time as crews cleaned up debris.
