Community Leader Wins ATHENA Award

Grand Rapids Community Foundation President Diana Sieger has won the ATHENA Award. The ATHENA Award is given out to a woman who has made major investments in her community, while holding professional leadership positions and mentoring other women.

Diana Sieger has been the president of the Community Foundation for almost 27 years. Since 1987, she has helped the foundation’s assets grow from $35 million to over $320 million.

The Community Foundation has also started the Challenge Scholars program. This is more than a scholarship program, it ensures students from Grand Rapids west side have the opportunity to achieve their dreams by providing a college or trade scholarship and college prep beginning in the sixth grade.

Sieger has also been involved in the community outside her work at the foundation. She’s won the Distinguished Community Trustee Award, the YMCA Tribute Award as well as several other awards.

Diana Sieger is the 25th recipient of the ATHENA Award and will be honored at an award celebration in Grand Rapids on September 18th at the Amway Grand Plaza.
