HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — Hope College has chosen a new coach for its men’s basketball team.

Greg Mitchell will take the job as the program’s 11th head coach.

The 48-year-old Mitchell is a former Flying Dutchman, playing four years for Hope before graduating in 1989. He still holds the Hope record for 3-point shooting percentage.

Mitchell has coached boy’s basketball for 25 years at Laingsburg High School near Lansing, where he accumulated a 362-201 record, according to a Thursday release from the college.

“He’s a man of integrity, a great family man and an amazing coach,” Hope co-athletic director Tim Schoonveld said in a statement.

Mitchell takes the place of former coach Matt Neil, who spent four seasons at Hope before he and the college parted ways in May.
