Investigators: Fire at apartment ‘suspicious’

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Fire crews responded to a report of an explosion at an apartment home in the Heritage Hills neighborhood in Grand Rapids Saturday.

The apartment home is located in the 100 block of Union Avenue NE near Fountain Street in Grand house explosion 2 070514

Residents tell 24 Hour News 8 that the explosion shook their unit and started a fire. Authorities say all residents were able to get out of the home and no one was injured.

Grand Rapids firefighters were able to put out the majority of the fire, but they are still working on putting out small fires in the home.

The Grand Rapids Fire and Police Department are currently investigating the cause of the explosion. GRPD is searching for whomever was in the apartment where the explosion happened.
