Squirrel responsible for power outage in GR

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich, (WOOD) — Electrical service has been restored to the nearly 5,000 people in Grand Rapids who woke up Sunday morning without power.

The outage affected customers from south of I-96 and extended past Burton Street.

Officials from Consumers Energy told 24 Hour News 8 that a squirrel got into the Aberdeen substation, knocking out the power.

Consumers representatives said power was restored around 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
