MSP: Car sought after man kills wife, self

ROYALTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say a Berrien County man killed his wife and then himself Monday morning.

It happened near their home in the 400 block of W. John Beers Road in Royalton Township, east of Stevensville, according to Michigan State Police.

Troopers were called to the scene around 6:15 a.m. after receiving a report of a woman in the road. When they arrived, they found 41-year-old Delaina Renade Tripp dead in the road.

Her husband David Allen Tripp, 56, was found dead not far away.

MSP says its investigation indicated David Tripp chased his wife across the road, shot her, then ran to the rear of his home and killed himself.

After being shot, MSP says, Delaina Tripp was hit by a westbound vehicle that then did not stop. That car is believed to be a 1998 through 2002 Honda Accoord of unknown color. It would be missing the right front inner fender and have damage to the undercarriage.

Anyone with information about that vehicle is asked to call the MSP Niles Post at 269.683.4411.
