Red Cross shelter open in Kentwood

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) – The Red Cross is opening a shelter in Kentwood for residents without power following strong thunderstorms that passed through Sunday.

The shelter is located at the Kentwood Community Center at 355 48th St.

The Red Cross shelter is open to residents who are without power or are impacted by storm damage.

A release from the City of Kentwood said about 54 people had stayed there.

People in need of shelter assistance can call the Red Cross at 616.899.4511.

A temporary aid station was set up by the Salvation Army at the Ideal Park Christian Reformed Church, located at 320 56th St. SW.
