RENOVA, Miss. (WOOD) — A Kalamazoo man was hit and killed by a driver in Mississippi over the fourth of July weekend.
According to Mississippi newspaper The Bolivar Commercial, Donald West, 60, was driving northbound on U.S. 61 when he stopped on the highway’s shoulder Sunday.
West was standing near the driver rear door of his vehicle when 50-year-old Otis Poole, also traveling north, crashed into him.
According to authorities, West died from his injuries.
West had several passengers in his vehicle at the time he was hit including Richer Matthews, 61, and three kids who were not hurt.
Poole was also not injured.
Everyone was wearing their seat belts.
The accident remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
