Man, 19, shot in hand in Muskegon

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — Muskegon police are looking for the person who shot a man in the hand Tuesday night.

The shooting happened around 11:40 p.m. in the area of Southern Avenue and Division Street, according to a release from the Muskegon Police Department.

Police said they were first  called after a report of a fight. While headed to the scene, officers were informed shots had been fired.

When officers arrived, they saw people fleeing the scene. One vehicle was detained by officers as it tried to leave the area.

Inside was a 19-year-old Muskegon man who had been shot in the hand. He was taken to Mercy Health Hackley Campus for treatment.

Officers found a gun at the scene, but it’s unclear whether it was the one involved in the shooting.
