GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man accused in a double shooting in downtown Grand Rapids was arraigned Wednesday.

Rodney Scot Armstrong Jr., 25, was arrested Tuesday after the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office authorized a multiple-count warrant. He was later arraigned in 61st District Court on two counts of assault with intent to murder, felony firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, and habitual offender-fourth offense.

Police said Armstrong shot two male teens, ages 16 and 17 years old, on Ionia Avenue near J. Gardella’s Tavern and Buffalo Wild Wings just after midnight on June 18. Witnesses reported an earlier altercation at the location that may have led to the subsequent shootings.

The 16-year-old victim was critically hurt after being shot in the back and the 17-year-old victim was seriously hurt.

One victim still remains hospitalized, according to police.
