Fire at Kentwood duplex; everyone safe

Crews battle fire at Kentwood duplex. (July 10, 2014)

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — Everyone was able to make it out safely after flames broke out at a Kentwood duplex.

The fire started after 2 a.m. Thursday at a duplex on Kimball Avenue SE.

The Kentwood Deputy Fire Chief at the scene said only one side of the duplex was occupied, which was where the fire started.

Flames were seen shooting from the roof.

The family that lived on the other side of the duplex made it out safely.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
