GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Holland Home has announced plans to expand their Breton Rehabilitation and Living Centre in Grand Rapids.
The rehabilitation services expansion will quadruple the capacity and capabilities of Breton Rehabilitation & Living Centre’s current rehabilitation program.
The expansion at the Breton Woods campus on 44th Street will include a new 4,560 square foot rehabilitation center and a 13,390 square foot 15-bed memory care assisted living unit.
“One of the features of the new assisted living unit is that the rooms will feature a built-in track lift system that will make it possible for one person to safely transfer a resident from the bed to a chair or to the bathroom ,” said Mina Breuker, chief operating officer of Holland Home.
Holland Home will break ground on the new assisted living center in late August 2014. It is expected to open in the fall of 2015.
Around 10 to 15 new positions are expected to be created to accommodate the multi-million dollar expansion.
The rehabilitation center will be attached to and easily accessible from the existing Breton Rehabilitation & Living Centre. It will include a state-of-the-art therapy gym, physical therapy, occupational therapy and a variety of exercise equipment.
The new assisted living space will be a deinstitutionalized version of the typical nursing home and will afford residents the feeling of living in a real home with spacious private rooms and private bathrooms arranged around a communal dining and living area and a residential style kitchen, according to a release from Holland Home.
The building will also house a den, spa, nurses station, staff office and clean and soiled linen rooms.
The expansion is privately-funded.
