GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Jenison man has admitted to climbing into the ceiling area of a Grandville gym to peep on a woman who was using a tanning booth.

During a status conference Thursday afternoon, 27-year-old Cody Postmus pleaded guilty to surveillance of an unclothed person.

The incident happened May 12 at the Rivertown Parkway Planet Fitness. Police say Postmus removed a ceiling panel over an enclosed tanning room, crawled into the rafters and peered through a grate into an adjacent room where a woman had stepped out of an stand-up tanning booth.

She noticed falling dust, looked up and saw Postmus. He took off. She called police.

Postmus was soon tracked down based on gym sign-in records and the woman’s description of the man who was watching her.

Postmus is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 9.
