MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) – The family of a Muskegon woman, who was shot to death and left on the side of the road, is now sponsoring a self-protection event.

Rebekah Bletsch died of a gunshot wound to the head on the evening of June 29. It happened on Automobile Road near Lakewood Road in Dalton Township, less than mile from Bletsch’s house. The 36-year-old wife and mother often went jogging in that area.

Bletsch’s family is sponsoring a self-protection event to teach women how to defend themselves against attackers.

The event is on July 19 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Reeths-Puffer High School in Muskegon. The clinic will be taught by instructors from North Winds Martial Arts.

Admission will cost $25 and $10 of each ticket sold will be donated to the Bletsch family.
