Suspect arrested for Bedford Mill fire

BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – Police say a 19-year-old man has been taken into custody Saturday in connection with the fire at the historic Bedford Mill.

The suspect was interviewed and then taken into custody by the Battle Creek police Saturday afternoon. He will be facing Arson charges, according to a news release.

The suspect will be arraigned on Monday at 1:30 p.m. and the case is still under investigation, police said.

The fire at the historic Bedford Mill on July 8 marked the second attempt at arson in about a month. Vandalism at the Bedford Mill has been an ongoing problem for years.
