MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — The Muskegon County wife and mother who was killed as she jogged near her home was shot multiple times, according to a death certificate obtained Monday.
The death certificate for Rebekah Bletsch, on file at Muskegon County Clerk’s Office, shows she suffered “multiple gunshot wounds of the head” and died within seconds.
Tuesday, the Muskegon County Medical Examiner was able to give 24 Hour News 8 further clarification on Bletsch’s time of death, which occurred sometime between 3:52 p.m. on June 29 – when she last had a telephone conversation – and 6:34 p.m., when, according to the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office, she was pronounced dead at the scene in an ambulance.
It’s also not clear exactly how many times she was shot, with what kind of weapon or from how far the shots were fired.
Bletsch, 36, was killed on Automobile Road near Lakewood Road in Dalton Township, less than a mile from her home. It was an area where she regularly went jogging.
Initially, investigators said they thought Bletsch’s injuries were the result of a hit-and-run.
Investigators said Bletsch had valuables with her when she was found, so they do not think robbery was a motive.
A $10,000 reward is being offered for information in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department at 231.724.6658 or Silent Observer at 231.72.CRIME. Tips can be texted to 274537 with MKGTIP and then the message.
