Bicyclist hurt after being hit by vehicle

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A bicyclist was seriously hurt after being hit by a car Tuesday morning.

It happened around 11:45 p.m. in the 3000 block of S. Westnedge Avenue, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

Witnesses told police the bicyclist had been weaving through southbound traffic that was stopped for a red light at Whites Road. But northbound traffic was still moving and a vehicle hit the bicyclist.

When police arrived on scene, passersby were providing first aid.

The 20-year-old bicyclist was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
