Mother accused of abuse after runaway returns

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) – Police went to the home of runaway teen, but when they arrived, they found the teen bound at the wrist with other signs of abuse visible Saturday.

Battle Creek police were told a runaway teen had returned home but there may be some concerns for his well-being, according to a news release.

When officers arrived at the home, they found the teen bound at the wrists and may have also been bound at the legs. There were other signs of physical abuse visible on the juvenile, the release said.

The mother of the victim, a 34-year-old woman, was arrested and taken to the Calhoun County Jail for wrongful imprisonment, felonious assault and child abuse, according to police.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment and released.
