Body found in Grand River near Jenison

JENISON, Mich. (WOOD) — A kayaker spotted a body in the Grand River near Jenison Sunday afternoon.

The body was found in the area of Baldwin Street and River Avenue, not far from the I-196 exit to Jenison. An Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office dive team was called to the scene.

Authorities said Monday that the person drowned accidentally and there were no signs of trauma.

They had not yet confirmed the person’s identity, though they were working on some leads.
