Shots fired during attempted robbery

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) – Shots were fired during an attempted robbery in a parking lot in Kalamazoo Sunday.

The attempted robbery happened in the 1300 block of N Burdick Street around 11 p.m. Sunday, according to a Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety news release.

The victim told police that two men came up to his car while in the parking lot of Interfaith Homes. A suspect demanded the victim to hand over his property, but the victim refused. Then the suspect pointed a handgun at the victim’s face, the release said.

The victim sped away from the parking lot as the suspect began shooting multiple rounds at the vehicle. The victim was not injured, but two bullets hit the driver’s side, according to the release.
