WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — Wyoming police continue to dig into the past of a man accused of killing a boyfriend, girlfriend and their unborn child.
Police say 31-year-old Brady Oestrike shot and killed himself after murdering Charles Oppenneer, 25, and his 18-year-old girlfriend Brooke Slocum, who was eight months pregnant.
Oestrike and Slocum met on Craigslist, and the two and Oppenneer met at Gezon Park in Wyoming on July 12 have sex, police say.
Oppenneer is believed to have been killed in the woods near Gezon Park, where officers discovered his body last week, police confirmed Tuesday.
Wyoming police Chief James Carmody said Monday that Oppenneer was decapitated and investigators had not yet located his head. Police say Oppenneer was dead before he was beheaded.
They also said they did not find other significant injuries to his body.
Slocum was held in Oestrike’s Wyoming home for a week before he strangled her Thursday, police say. Thursday night, Oestrike led police on a chase that ended in a crash on Burton Street SW at US-131, and then committed suicide. Slocum’s body was found in the trunk of his car.
Police say they have made contact with Oestrike’s former fiancee and are working to interview her to get more insight into his personal life.
Authorities say it will take them some time to go through all of the items they removed from Oestrike’s house.
Slocum’s visitation is set for Wednesday, and her funeral for Thursday.
Oppenneer’s funeral was Monday.
