Man dies after semi-truck, car collide

GILMORE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 31-year-old man has died following a crash between a semi-truck and a car.

The crash happened around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of W. Coleman Road and N. Littlefield Road in Isabella County.

According to police, a 1999 Peterbilt tractor trailer was traveling eastbound on W. Coleman Road, while a 2005 Pontiac G6 was heading southbound on N. Littlefield Road.

The driver of the semi-truck, a 43-year-old man from Farwell, told police the Pontiac made a right turn on W. Coleman Road and then crossed into his lane. He says he tried avoiding the oncoming car by crossing over into the westbound lane of W. Coleman Road; however, the driver of the Pontiac corrected back into the westbound lane, where the crash occurred.

The driver of the Pontiac, a 24-year-old woman from Remus, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids.

The passenger of the Pontiac, 31-year-old Aaron Jacob Latham from Weidman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi-truck was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
