Police: Man tried to shoot woman, gun didn’t fire

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman told police a man put a gun to her head and pulled the trigger but it didn’t fire, after assaulting her several times.

The assault happened shortly after midnight Wednesday at a home in Battle Creek.

The man then left the home in a truck, leading police on a high speed chase.

Several blocks later the suspect crashed into a parked car and a utility pole, before trying to run from police on foot. He was then arrested.

The suspect is being held at the Calhoun County Jail and is expected to face several charges including attempted murder, fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing, and weapons violation.
