Suspect sought in Checkers armed robbery

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) – Police in Kalamazoo are looking for a man who robbed a Checkers restaurant manager at gunpoint Wednesday morning.

It happened at the restaurant at 575 Michigan Ave. just after 8 a.m. as the manager was opening for the day, according to a release from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

The suspect got away with an unknown amount of cash, police said. He was last seen running north from the restaurant.

No one was hurt in the robbery.

Police described the suspect as a black man in his 20s who has an average build and is around 6 feet 3 inches tall. He was wearing a red and black hooded sweatshirt with a Nike logo on the front and light-colored cargo pants, according to the release.
