PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — One person was hospitalized after an SUV rolled over in Portage Thursday.

It happened around 5:50 p.m. in the 7700 block of S. Westnedge Avenue near Shaver Road, according to the Portage Department of Public Safety.

Police say a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer was headed south on Westnedge when the driver lost control. The SUV rolled and came to a rest on the east side of some railroad tracks.

The female driver of the SUV was ejected. She was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

The driver was not wearing her seat belt, Portage DPS said, and speed appears to have been a factor.
