GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – A fundraising program has been unveiled to bring a new Santa float to the Art Van Santa Parade.

Every November, more than 20,000 spectators come to the Art Van Santa Parade presented by the Grand Rapids Jaycees on Monroe Avenue to kick off the Holiday Season.

The Jaycees have started the “Community Grant Challenge” to make a new Grand Rapids themed Santa float for the parade.

It will take at least two months to make and will still use the vintage sleigh that has been a part of Santa’s float for nearly a century. The new float design will have Santa and his eight reindeer above the Blue Bridge.

The project needs $25,000 to make the float a reality. The Jaycees are asking for donations from community members and businesses to help.

Visit the Santa Parade’s website to make a donation or help sponsor the float.

The Art Van Santa Parade will be held on Saturday November 22 at 9 a.m. in downtown Grand Rapids.
