GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) The Art Van Santa Parade presented by the Grand Rapids Jaycees is looking to super size its annual event this year, and you can help! The Community Grant Challenge is a fundraising program to bring a new Grand Rapids-themed Santa float to the streets of downtown.
The new float will bring another wow factor to the parade’s main attraction: Santa Claus himself! The Parade Company has created a float that really represents Grand Rapids and brings the awe and wonder of Santa to the crowd. The new float will take at least two months to construct and will utilize the vintage sleigh that has been a part of Santa’s float for nearly a century. The new design incorporates the city, as his vintage sleigh and eight new regal reindeer soar him high above the Grand River over the iconic Blue Bridge.
The Grand Rapids Jaycees have secured a portion of the funding, but they still need $25,000 to make Santa’s new ride a reality. To make a donation or help sponsor the float, visit the Art Van Santa Parade website.
The Art Van Santa Parade presented by the Grand Rapids Jaycees will be held on Saturday November 22, 2014 at 9 a.m. in downtown Grand Rapids.
