Driver hit by oncoming car dies

ISABELLA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 73-year-old man has died after he was hit by an oncoming Jeep after failing to yield at a stop sign.

James Chaney, of Mount Pleasant, was driving a Ford F-150 on Baseline Road and Lincoln Road in Isabella County when police say he didn’t yield at a stop sign and was hit by 24-year-old Adam Hardenburgh, of Weidman, around 4 p.m. Thursday.

Chaney was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Robert Powell, 52, was a riding in Chaney’s truck when the crash happened. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Hardenburgh suffered minor injuries.
