GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — After much anticipation “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” is making its debut Friday night as part of the Movies in the Park series in downtown Grand Rapids.
The public voted last year to see the film at Movies in the Park, but poor weather conditions forced organizers to cancel the show.
“This year provided an opportunity to still show the film and allow fans an opportunity to see it on the big screen. There was so much enthusiasm for this film last year, and we wanted to continue that excitement,” said Kristopher Larson, President and CEO of Downtown Grand Rapids Inc.
The free movie will be projected onto a 3-story screen at Ah-Nab-Awen Park starting at dusk. Pre-movie entertainment begins at 7 p.m.
Gilda’s LaughFest will be the evening’s Community Partner and will host a costume contest and dancing lessons to learn “The Time Warp”. Attendees will also have an opportunity to win a $100 gift card to Founders Brewing Co.
Friday night will be the last night that attendees can vote for their favorite of the Voters’ Choice selections to air on August 22.
Guests are welcome to bring chairs or blankets along with food, wine, and beer. A variety of local vendors will have additional food available for purchase.
