The First Tee: Life lessons from golf

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The First Tee of West Michigan teaches values and life skills through golf.

The idea is to use nine core values to teach kids intrinsic lessons to the game that matter outside of golf.

“Golf’s the vehicle. It’s not the end goal. Then end goal is not to make a student who will shoot even par, its to make sure that they’re going to be better citizens when they get out of the program, when they graduate from school,” said Tyler Smies, the Executive Director of The First Tee of West Michigan.
