GR native dies after head-on crash in Texas

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A National Guard member from Grand Rapids died after a head-on crash in Marion County, Texas Thursday.

News-Journal.com reports Corey Hanson, 24, of Grand Rapids was driving northbound on Texas 43 around 5 a.m. Thursday when his SUV went into the southbound lane.

Hanson’s SUV collided with a southbound tractor-trailer, causing both vehicles to catch fire.

Hanson was pronounced dead at the scene and the other driver, 57-year-old Mark Farmer of Atlanta, received minor injuries.
