TALLMADGE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man died after rolling his pickup truck west of Walker Saturday night.

The wreck happened around 9:30 p.m. on Luce Street near 8th Avenue in Tallmadge Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say 21-year-old Evan Westrate of Marne was driving west on Luce when he lost control on a curve. The vehicle went oft the road.

Westrate over-corrected and his pickup truck rolled, the sheriff’s office says. He was ejected, landing in the road.

The truck hit some mailboxes and came to a stop in a ditch.

Westrate was taken to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. Sunday, the hospital said Westrate had died.

The sheriff’s office says speed and alcohol are thought to have been factors in the crash.
