To The Point: 28th Senate and 80th House

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – On the July 27, 2014 episode of “To The Point,” Rick Albin looks at two primary races, including the 28th state Senate seat and the four Republicans running for the 80th state House seat.

Michigan Senate 28th District:
The 28th state Senate seat is open due to term limits. Current Sen. Mark Jansen cannot run again. Two Republicans are hoping to replace him on the ballot, including Rep. Peter MacGregor and former Rep. Kevin Green. The winner of that race will face off against Democrat Deb Havens in November.

The state Senate’s 28th District includes the cities of Cedar Springs, East Grand Rapids, Walker and Wyoming, and most of Kent County’s townships.

Michigan House 80th District:
Four Republicans are vying for the nomination for state House, including Randy Brink, Cindy Gamrat, Stephen Schulz and Mary Whiteford. The winner of that race will go on to face Democrat Geoff Parker in November.

The state House’s 80th District includes a large portion of Allegan County.
