IONIA, Mich. (WOOD) — No one was hurt at the Ionia Free Fair after a cable on the “Drop Shot” ride broke Friday.
The ride’s safety function kicked in after the cable broke and it returned to its resting position, according to Becca Usher, the marketing director for the fair.
The malfunction was loud, Usher said, but no one was injured.
The cause of the break is still unknown. State inspectors had checked and cleared the ride on Wednesday.
The ride holds up to 16 people. Usher said she didn’t know whether it was full when the cable broke.
