Teen hits gas instead of brake; crashes into BK

GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — A local Burger King was damaged after a teenager crashed into the building while attempting to park.

Sarena Chandler, 18, pulled into the fast food’s parking lot on 44th Street near Kenowa Avenue around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday when she hit the gas instead of the brake, according to police.

The 2007 Honda SUV she was driving jumped the curb and ran into a brick pillar near the entrance.

Chandler and her passenger were both wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and were not injured.

The Burger King received moderate structural damage, but the restaurant remained open.

Chandler was cited for reckless driving. Alcohol was not a factor.
