Teen in critical condition after Zeeland stabbing


ZEELAND, Mich. (WOOD) — A teenager is in critical condition after being stabbed in Zeeland Friday.

Police tell 24 Hour News 8 the male victim was stabbed around 6:15 p.m. at 100 Pine Street in Zeeland.

A family member confirmed to 24 Hour News 8 the victim is 17-year-old Anthony Schild.

Zeeland Police Chief William Olney confirmed that a 14-year-old has been arrest.

Schild’s family said they believe the stabbing was the result of a random gang attack.

Police said some teenagers were sitting at a picnic table when someone came up and stabbed the victim.

The suspect then took off.

The victim was taken to a Grand Rapids hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Zeeland police officers are investigating the incident.
