GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people were shot during a domestic situation near Kentwood Saturday.
It happened in the 4500 block of 60th Street, according to the Kent County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities said a man and woman sustained gunshot wounds. The man had life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to the hospital. The woman had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital via ambulance.
Deputies were called to the scene after a 911 call from a woman who said there was a domestic violence incident between her and her husband. Authorities received a second 911 call from a witness who said a man was assaulting a woman.
Police found the woman in the parking lot of the Reformed Church in America building with a gunshot wound to her arm, the sheriff’s department said.
The man was located near a vehicle that was parked further down the road near a construction site. He had a gunshot wound to the head area, but was conscious, according to deputies.
It is unknown what led up to the altercation or who was shot first. Police told 24 Hour News 8 that only one gun was involved and the gun had been found.
Authorities said they are not looking for any suspects at this time.
60th Street was shut down for a time between Patterson Avenue and East Paris Avenue, but it later reopened.
