ZEELAND, Mich. (WOOD) — The brother of the 17-year-old who was stabbed in Zeeland Friday says he wants justice.

Anthony Schild, 17, is in critical condition after being stabbed around 6 p.m. Friday at 100 Pine Street in Zeeland.

Ryan Winchel said his brother tried to break up a fight when he was attacked.

He said the family believes the stabbing was gang-related.

“I didn’t know he was involved in gangs until I got the phone call that my brother was in the ICU,” said Winchel.

Police said witnesses didn’t share much.

Winchel hopes what happened to his brother gets people’s attention.

“It’s not worth getting involved in stuff, and life’s too short,” Winchel said. “I love him and I always will.”

Editor’s Note: An earlier version incorrectly reported the stabbing happened at a nearby park.
