FORK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say they arrested a Barryton man after he severely beat another man during an argument.
The assault happened around 3:20 a.m. Saturday on 20 Mile Road near 30th Avenue, according to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office.
Joshua Voorhees, 29, and the victim got into an argument in a vehicle when the assault occurred. After the vehicle stopped on the side of the road police say Voorhees became physical with the victim and had to be pulled off of the victim.
The victim, a 22-year-old from Barryton, sustained several broken facial bones.
Later Saturday evening, deputies arrested Voorhees.
Voorhees was arraigned on assault with the intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and felonious assault.
The sheriff’s office said the incident is not related to a Saturday night rave on 70th Avenue that was attended by more than 2,000 people. Six people were hospitalized following that party, and deputies are investigating a sexual assault report connected to it.
