Man charged in Gaines Twp. shooting

GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The Kent County Prosecutor’s Office has charged a 30-year-old Kentwood man for allegedly shooting a woman.

Artur Grigoryan faces charges of assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, carrying a concealed weapon, felony firearms and interfering with electronic communication.

He was arraigned Tuesday at a Grand Rapids hospital, where he’s recovering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The shooting happened Saturday. When police responded to a 911 call from 60th Street in Gaines Township, they found a woman in a church parking lot with a gunshot wound to the arm.

Officers found Grigoryan, who had apparently shot himself, in a vehicle parked further down the road.

No bond was issued Tuesday.
