GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A portion of I-96 near Grand Rapids was shut down for a time Tuesday night due to a motorhome fire.

Kent County Central Dispatch said the fire in the westbound lanes west of Cascade Road caused heavy smoke.

A photo from a 24 Hour News 8 viewer taken from the Fulton Street overpass showed two fire trucks responding to a large fire as black smoke rises into the sky.

The highway was shut down for about half an hour.

There were not any reports of injuries.
