The skinny on estate sales

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) If you’re dealing with the loss of a family member or just want to downsize and get rid of extra stuff, an estate sale may be the way to go. Joy Kamphuis and Mary Thornburg-Osborne own Two Sisters Estate Liquidations. They have been collectors their whole lives and did antique shows before they were asked to start doing estate sales.

Estate sales are a great option to sell items in the event of a death, or if someone is moving or downsizing. The sisters say if you’re looking to hold an estate sale, find someone that is reputable and has references. They can help clients decide whether an estate sale is right for them.

Estate sales are also a place to find antiques, vintage items, and other treasures. Some tips from the sisters include looking at items online ahead of time and get to the estate sale early to fill out a sign-up sheet to secure your spot. Many estate sales start at 9 a.m., so get there at 7 a.m.
