GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Ottawa County authorities say they have identified the body found in the Grand River near Jenison about three weeks ago.

The body was spotted July 20 by a kayaker in the area of Baldwin Street and River Avenue, not far from the I-196 exit to Jenison.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday the body was that of 40-year-old Anthony Onell Welch of Grand Rapids.

His body was identified via dental records and with help from Grand Rapids police, the sheriff’s office said.

Welch’s family reported him missing July 11.

The death was ruled an accidental drowning.
