GANGES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — What may be a human jawbone was found near Lake Michigan in Allegan County’s Ganges Township, the Holland Sentinel is reporting.

A runner spotted the jawbone Aug. 1 near Pier Cove, which is off Lakeshore Drive south of Douglas, according to the Sentinel. The Michigan State Police Crime Lab is analyzing the bone.

MSP told the Sentinel the bone has not been connected with any missing persons cases.

On July 12, the body of a Chicago man was found near the lakeshore in southern Ganges Township, about five miles from where the Sentinel says the bone was discovered. Authorities have not said the cases are related.
