GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Today marks the 22nd annual celebration of International Left-Handers Day.
Only about 10 percent of the population use their left hands for daily tasks.
International Left-Handers Day was launched on August 13, 1992. In the United Kingdom alone there have been more than 20 regional events to mark the day including left versus right sports matches, a left-handed tea party, and pubs using left-handed corkscrews where patrons drank.
The Left-Handers Club was formed in 1990 which helps promote research into left-handedness and the development of new left-handed items.
According to the Detroit Free Press, three of the last four presidents have been left-handed including President Obama, President George H.R. Bush and President Clinton.
