Inmate sentenced in 2004 robbery, murder

Walter Antraell Wilson

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — An inmate at a federal prison in Pennsylvania has been sentenced to 25 to 50 more years in prison after pleading guilty to a decade-old robbery-slaying in western Michigan.

Walter A. Wilson told police last month that he shot Robert Anthony Farmer in 2004. The 33-year-old pleaded guilty last month to second-degree murder in Kent County Circuit Court, and Judge George Buth sentenced him Wednesday.

Grand Rapids police say detectives used DNA evidence, tips and witness statements to link the crime to Wilson.

Wilson is in federal prison serving a minimum of 15 years for possession of illegal weapons in a 2007 case.
